My third graders are eager to learn, laugh, share, and create. However, many of them come from challenging circumstances where their families are struggling to provide food and clothing. Things like crayons and markers are extras and don't often make the family budget. Most of the students in my school are learning English and art can be a way for them to put ideas on paper in images that can later be expressed in words, both spoken and written.
