My students are from a HIGH poverty school and community. Many of these students come from a low-income and often a single parent home where parents may not speak English or may be illiterate. On the positive side, many of our parents are supportive of their child's education and know it is a means for a better life. Despite these challenges and limitations that lay on my students, they work hard and are always excited for the use of technology. They know that to be successful in the future it will take a lot of work and they are determined to step up to the challenge and succeed. Here in New Mexico we have a high demand for computer and science related job fields and need to get our students ready and up to date with that knowledge and those practices for these jobs and for their futures. Only the proper technology will help me lend to those practices and meet those needs that cannot be met without the proper equipment; the Chromebook would definitely be a good start for my students.
