My students have a daily snack time to rest and refuel before jumping back in for more learning. This snack time is so important because school days are long and I need my students focused on our learning instead of the growling in their stomachs. This time also provides great opportunities to build community and practice important communication skills while chatting with classmates.
All of my students' families want their child to succeed, but not all of them have the means to provide a daily snack for their child. At my Title I school, many students already receive free or reduced lunch. Research shows that hunger negatively affects learning and school performance. No kid should ever be hungry at school. I like to have snacks available for students who are not able to bring one from home. The snacks funded by donors to this project will be kept in the classroom for students who need them and will make sure that all of my kiddos are ready to be their best at school.
Thank you so much for your help!
