The Multi-Intensive Center at Skinner has 16 students in 6th-8th grade. The disabilities our students have range from epilepsy and Down syndrome to Cerebral Palsy and autism. In addition, they are all effected by multiple specific learning disabilities. Far outweighing their disabilities, our students all have boundless abilities that continually inspire their peers and the community.
The goal for all of our students is to grow towards an independent future. We often practice our life skills around school and in the community! We care for the school garden to practice our motor skills and grow our own food. We are always working on social skills, cooking, recycling, shopping, navigating the community, housekeeping, hygiene, and more!
Skinner Middle School is a traditional Middle School in the Northwest area of Denver. Our 519 students are represented by 75% Free and Reduced lunch qualification as well as 19% English Language Learners, and 17% receive Special Education services.
