These materials will go towards helping create a more student centered and engaging learning environment. The room will be able to be transformed into a book tasting cafe, a crime scene escape the room, and a glow games themed unit review. These materials will be able to be reused throughout the year and into the future.
Students learn best when they are excited about what they are learning and sometimes that means going above and beyond to turn a lesson into an experience. These materials will help our students problem solve, work as a team, and build critical thinking skills all while they are having fun. By allowing students to have props the students are able to buy in to the lesson and the scenario. The students become engaged in the lesson without being aware of the learning occurring. By being funded the materials will be used for various room transformations, thus transforming many lessons. the restuant props will be used to teach about text features, genres, and economics. The black light and glow materials will turn into a glow in the dark ‘park’ where students will work on reviewing skills to earn points while playing games. Lastly, the crime scene materials will allow students to work to solve the unknown. Students will be given clues that ultimately lead to a final reveal, much Luke the popular escape the rooms. In a world made up of high level entertainment, our students need to be actively engaged and captivated by their learning experience. We would be so grateful to have these materials help to transform our classroom and create a lasting educational impact on our students.
