Our class is in a primarily low income community with many of its residents below the poverty level. We are lucky enough to have public preschool for ages 3 and 4. My class is part of the four year old program. This year, more than any other, I have more children who come from homes where English is not spoken and books are not read because parents are unable to read or write in their first language. I have never encountered children who are in more need of a year filled with a language and literacy filled environment. As difficult as their little lives are, everyday my aid and I are greeted with a hug and smile. Our students are always eager to come to school!
