My students are English Learners or have mild learning disabilities. Because of language difficulties, many of them have a negative attitude towards reading. Our community is a suburb of a major metropolis that has been hit hard by the mortgage crisis. Many of my students' parents are out of jobs, and cannot afford quality literature to read in school. They need great books to help them realize reading IS fun!
