The students at my school are bright, curious, and waiting for the opportunity to shine. All my students have the potential to learn and succeed with help, guidance and especially resources that our school is sadly in great need of. With the current harsh economic climate, our budget has suffered. The freedom to buy books for enrichment and to take students on field trips is a luxury that is too expensive for our school to afford. My school is multicultural. Children of immigrants or immigrants themselves, my students are challenged economically and academically. They struggle to support their own families through part time jobs, or through household responsibilities. My students are also challenged in school as many struggle to acquire language proficiency in their first and second language. The combination of socio/economic and academic struggles creates a great challenge for my community of students.
