I am a 3rd grade teacher.
I am passionate about a program that I started called Paws For a Book. Team Paws is a student-led literacy program that brings therapy dogs into our school to listen to students read.
When a child is reading to a dog, he is not worried about being a perfect reader because a dog will not correct him. Therefore, in time, fluency, accuracy, comprehension and expression will improve.
Team Paws is much more than kids reading to therapy dogs. Paws also engages my 3rd graders in service work that directly benefits our community.
My goal is to teach kids the importance of spreading kindness in all that they do. These kids are our future! Be kind, always! Pass it on!
