The rug is an important space in our classroom. The rug is where we meet at the beginning of each and every day. Here we discuss our goals for the day as well as how we are feeling. It gives us an opportunity to connect with one another and gain support in exciting and tough times. We also complete group work on the rug. As students get uncomfortable in a desk all day, we can spread out and be comfortable as well as work collaboratively. Finally, the rug offers a quiet space for those who just need a short break to collect themselves.
