The books I am requesting are to help build my classroom library as well as assist me during my guided reading time. My classroom library is a place I want my students to feel proud of while being able to take a breath and enjoy reading. I want to make my reading corner a warm and cozy place where my students want to go and read.
Our district has adapted Developmental Appropriate Practices. My students will participate in play based scenarios to help develop their executive functioning skills. Thus, play items were selected to foster my students critical thinking skills, working memory, and patience/perseverance. Play will assist my students to build upon their skills like teamwork, problem-solving, flexible thinking, and empathy.
These items will give my classroom the edge it needs to allow students to become independent learners and create their own way of thinking during play. My hope is that these materials bring joy and engagement.
