My second grade students are a fun, creative, and diverse community of learners who all share a common need for academic success. As their teacher, it is my job to help ensure their success. In a world where technology continues to advance, there is a growing need for students to excel in the four areas that make up "STEM" (science, technology, mathematics, and engineering). My school places emphasis on student success in these academic areas. In my classroom, I do everything I can to support this success to ensure that my students begin to build the skills that they will need in order to continue to be successful in the future. I have begun to do many age and grade level appropriate "STEM" activities in my classroom. Through "STEM," my students are able to design and build structures, (such as bridges and boats), to conduct experiments, to use measurement, and to record and analyze data for future success.
