I teach 5th grade math in a rural, Title 1 middle school. Many of my students' families struggle with poverty, and even more live in remote areas where Internet access just isn't possible.
What we have learned over the past few months is that distance education is only effective when it is equitable. With so many of my students unable to access quality online content, I fear what school might look like for them in the fall.
I'd love to be able to offer the most vulnerable of my students these devices, pre-loaded with videos lessons to accompany paper copies of my assignments. In the future, the devices would allow me to "flip" my classroom, and continue to offer video assignments at home to complement classroom instruction.
