I teach English in a magnet program that emphasizes college prep and the digital arts. Our students are inquisitive, thoughtful, and strive to be critical, independent thinkers who want to have a prominent voice in today's world. They come from very diverse backgrounds, and most choose to continue their education by attending college after they graduate. My classes are designed thematically to give students a true college preparatory experience. We study a diverse range of texts that help students consider the meaning of their lives and the roles that they want to play in the world, while developing the academic skills and habits of mind that they'll need to be successful.
