As a special education and English language teacher in Chicago Public Schools, I provide services to some of our most vulnerable children. I am hoping that with the Apple iPad and Pencil, I will be able to provide my students with a remote learning experience that is more meaningful and engaging. Like many urban schools, mine does not have the funds to provide teachers with computers or other devices and technology that can help our students succeed in our new learning situations. The iPad and Pencil will allow me to bring mathematics to life for my students by providing them examples and explanations in real-time. It will allow me to help my students visualize math the concepts (with the use of graphing "paper," color coding, distinguishing/emphasizing different concepts, providing drawings, and other visuals we are covering in class. I will also be able to use this device to provide my students with meaningful feedback on their work.
Not only will this device make remote learning more meaningful, but once we return to the classroom, students will be able to use it independently or in small groups to support their learning through the use of various applications. There are endless ways that I can create meaningful and engaging lessons utilizing the iPad and Pencil.
From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for your generous support. I appreciate your willingness to help my students succeed!
