Students are expected to read independently for 20 minutes each day in class. With having a variety of books in the classroom library, I know students will find a book that they truly enjoy to read and will be more likely to finish a book. The more students read the more language they will acquire and the better they will learn how to interact with the world through different perspectives.
Studies show that when students are given choice over their education they are more engaged. I have students who claim to not like to read, but I believe that it's just that they have not found the right book to fall in love with.
