My students live in one of the poorest neighborhoods in Philadelphia. Called the "badlands", these students struggle regularly in their home environment. A lot of them look to school as their safe zone and try their best to overcome the reality of their home life. My school is a middle school, including grades 6th, 7th and 8th grade.
