My school has close to 800 students in grades Kindergarten -4th. We are a Title I school based on the number of students who receive free and reduced lunch. This means that our community has difficulty assisting with the funding of projects that our teachers could use. We do not have fundraisers because we do not feel comfortable taxing members of students' families. I teach general music and meet with each class once a week for 30 minutes. During that time we sing, dance, play on instruments, prepare for musicals and various other activities. I also try to work across the curriculum and integrate reading and math as much as possible to assist classroom teachers. At our school we work together as a team to promote student learning.
