At this moment, my kindergarteners only have seating available at open-front desks. These are not easily adjustable, and they are too tall for most of my students. Many find themselves needing to stand up in order to complete work that involves writing or coloring, as they cannot reach or see properly while seated.
They also present a pinching hazard; the desks separate from one another and have, on more than one occasion, pinched little fingers when the desks are pushed back together by a student. All too often I dry little tears and reassure a student that their friend did not mean to pinch his or her fingers.
