My students are an amazing, resilient group of children from primarily young, low-income military families in the SE United States. These brave children often face multiple moves and/or the absence of one or both parents due to the call of freedom, but their strength and bravery should not go unnoticed. Our school has a climate of acceptance and respect for the diverse nature of this group of students, and this helps our students feel that even when life at home may be a roller coaster, they can come to school and thrive with consistency, structure, and acceptance.
