Welcome to our class. We are working hard to disprove stereotypes about children living in the inner city and in poverty. Stations throughout the class will allow me to work with small groups of students, while others work independently. Students will be placed in heterogeneous groups, and move from center to center. These centers will give students the chance to expand their knowledge and get hands on experience. The stations are meant to reteach, give practice, enrichment.
Science and Social Studies is often neglected because too emphasis is placed on Language Arts and Math, I chose to include file folders and tubs to give students the chance to work with their hands in a fun and engaging manner. The goal is to give students an appreciation for Science and Social Studies which could lead to an interest in a career in one of those areas, which many of our children do not consider due to the lack of exposure.
