This new classroom library will continue to show the importance of reading every day. I would love to continue to create a classroom where the students take charge of their learning, and I act more as a facilitator. Reading is a skill that is used every day, whether it involves reading street signs, directions, or let’s face it in today’s world, text messages. I would love if every students had the opportunity to choose a book that interests them, and one they can make connections with.
These books were chosen with the idea that all students do not function or learn on the same level. I have picked books of various achievement levels so every student can have the opportunity to engage with the book of their choice. I am sure every one of these books will be picked up by my students this school year because they will all speak to them in a way that they can only learn through text. These books will be displayed and taken care of in an inviting way for all of my students. Independent reading time is important for the students to decompress and relax all while getting caught up in a good book.
With these new and exciting books in the classroom library, my students will be able to go on a journey and an experience, through text, they didn’t know was possible. The best way to learn is through invigorating experiences and making connections. What better way to make their own connections and let the imagination run wild than with great new books?
