We are a rural school district in Washington, roughly 70% free and reduced lunch, with a split demographic population of Hispanic and Caucasian students. Many students ride a bus for up to two hours within their school day. The majority of my students' families work in agricultural jobs and have little access to the world outside of our town. They have an eagerness to gain understanding and empathy for the world around them. They are raised with a sacred pride of sport, particularly, our rich tradition of football. This translates into my classroom as my students are very kinesthetic, loving movement, and visual learners who have experienced the greater world through a screen rather than the cultural experiences of museums and urban life. They are proud of the hard working citizens our town is known for and excited for the opportunities education brings them.
