I teach in a highly diverse school district with over 85% at-risk students. Many of my students are learning English, are first generation immigrants/refugees, have learning exceptionalities, or experience poverty. It is my goal to show these kiddos the most love while they are in my art class.
I try to teach students about diverse artists, cultures, and styles. We try as many mediums and techniques in my classroom while they are in elementary school. I want to foster and grow their love to create so that they can use that power to go on and change their world.
It's important to recognize that while I teach in an art-supporting district, sometimes budgets do not cover all the things we need to be successful.
Art is an important class to have for children. It is a safe escape where they can just be a kid, and for many of my students it is the reason they come to school.
Thank you for your support!
