The older students get, the less interested they seem to be in self-selected reading. I have challenged myself this year to build a classroom library with high-interest, popular young adult literature to keep them reading even when they are at home. The more independent reading a student completes, the higher their literacy rate. The impact my library will have on these students will continue to build as they move on from my classroom. It will also positively impact their performance in other core classes. Thank you for helping me reach my goal!
