Year after year, I am impressed with my students and the progress they make from September through June. The growth they show academically, socially, and personally is always commendable. This year, more than ever, I have witnessed a group of students adapt and find success regardless of the constant obstacles thrown their way. One way we find success in the classroom is through the daily use of our interactive smart board. From math when we implement interactive spinners, dice, and dissecting word problems, to ELA when we highlight, write, and create literature to the most hands-on subjects, science and social studies, where each student gets a chance to interact in some form with the board each day, the interactive board is a constant staple in the learning of our classroom. We have even become 'pros' in using our interactive board while keeping COVID-19 safety measures in place by using our pencil erasers, rather than our fingers! And, one thing I would love to give this crew is access to a new and reliable interactive board. We currently have a very old projector and smart board that is not at the top of its game (and sometimes isn't even in the game at all)! The kiddos often refer to it as the 'not so smart board' as it frequently has to be unplugged and restarted in order to work or respond. It is both distracting and interrupts the learning environment of our classroom. This class has worked hard, persevered and deserves the best. I would love to reward them with a new, actual smart interactive board that is both reliable and at the top of its game-because these kiddos are certainly at the top of their game and these 'bears deserve the best'!
