My students have multiple disabilities but are capable of so much. They try so hard to fit in and belong with their peers. We are in a public school that services a very high rate of free and reduced lunch students. Last year, we had to close a building due to financial difficulties. We have cut funds in every area but especially in the area of special needs. We have a variety of special needs in my classroom. My students enjoy life and come to school wanting to learn. My youngest student is in 8th grade and my oldest students are in 12th grade. My students will remain with me until they are 21, so I become very attached to them. They have the same hopes and dreams as their peers, they just have a hard time reaching them. It amazes me how much they have learned in one year and I know they will continue to amaze me! I am blessed to get to spend my day with them.
