My students attend a high-poverty school with very little resources. 100% of the students are offered a free breakfast and lunch program. A large number of my students attend a before-school program AND an after-school program, leaving them at school for close to a total of 8-10 hours per day. There is very little parent involvement in my classroom, as most parents are busy with either work or attending school themselves.
With all of this data, it is so surprising that my students are still passionate about learning, regardless of their lack of resources. It is inspiring to be their educator and pushes me to gather more and more resources for them to thrive and further their love of learning.
