This year, we are making a big push in educating students on both building and programming robots. The laptops will be used to design 3D models for our FIRST Robotics competition robot, use as driver stations, and to program the robot. For our newer students, the arduino boards and the robot kits will help them learn the basics of programming and building. The CNC machine will allow students to create metal and wood cutouts that we have otherwise outsourced in the past. There is significant value in teaching students how to use a CNC machine themselves and this will be the first step in doing so.
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student achievement in ROBOTICS, you will ultimately help students learn more about STEAM fields. Students will be able to select which skill sets they wish to work on in class - building, programing, or designing. These materials will allow students to learn through engaging group-based projects that will require them to use critical thinking skills. Students will be engaged at all levels and will learn the value of a high quality STEM education.
