My students are in need of switching from desks to tables. Tables would be more beneficial in my classroom because most of the work we do involves group work and/or centers. In my experience, desks have shown to be quite the distraction for students in my classroom because they are more focused on what is inside it rather than on the task at hand.
This project will greatly impact my students with ADHD and other disabilities that make focusing hard for them. Implementing different types of tables will give my students the choice to move around and give them more space to do their work independently. Tables and stools would make it easier to implement flexible seating. Students are noticeably more engaged and focused when they are able to choose their own seating.
These tables will allow my students to have many different learning groups going on at a time with an ample amount of space. The trapezoid tables were chosen, because they can be rearranged and maneuvered to best fit our learning on a given day.
