My classroom is student based, so I want students to be able to see each other and interact with each other daily to strengthen our learning environment. Students will use the bean bags, lamps, and other resources to ensure that they are able to learn in a classroom environment that makes them feel welcome and supported. The rugs will be used for students to have independent reading time in the library and guided reading time at the front of the class. Reading and writing can be used as a mirror and a window; a way for the students to see their experiences in what they read/write as well as reflect on new experiences. All materials will be used for students to explore their own identities and learn how to make the world a better place for others as well as themselves. Students final project will be to create a book of their own lives The goal is for each student to be able to write their own narrative by the end of the year and to plan a future plan for themselves, their families and their communities.
