Standard issued seating for a classroom stinks. My marvelous sixth graders deserve to be comfortable and free within our classroom. We spend six hours a day cramming about Ancient Civilizations, Energy Transformations, Area of Trapezoids, Reading Skills, and more! There is no way I could sit for six hours straight and stay focused.. so how could I possibly expect my students to?! We are fortunate enough to have a couple pillows and creativity to make flex seating an option. However, having my upcoming students arrive with a multitude of seating options will surely inspire them to stay focused and earn their time in flex seating (it may be flex seating but focus is key, so rules will be set to support learning!). Students will be able to get comfortable and work in a position that keeps them focused. Having a bit of autonomy will allow them to take ownership of how and where they learn. So please! Help us bring some flexible seating into our classroom!
