I deeply believe that our ability to live lives of peace and liberation is inextricably bound in each other. My hope is my classroom will empower students with knowledge, tools and skills to ultimately 1) love themselves, their community and their world; 2) create the conditions and livelihoods of their dreams; 3) persist and thrive in the face of setbacks and challenges. Together, we will resist the tides of paternalism, low expectations and identity erasure that characterizes many black and brown children's experience, including my own.
