I teach English as a Second Language in a New Jersey High School where the students have not been able to do well on the state exams. The Bilingual students have not been able to pass the comprehension portion of the exam because not only are they learning a new language, they don't know how to study. They are expected to adapt to a different school system, but they do not receive any "training" on how to succeed.
