I teach a bilingual kindergarten class in a title one school. All of my students are beginning English language learners, and most of my students' parents highest level of education is high school. Because the area where my school is located is of very low socio-economic status, all of my students qualify for free lunch. Regardless of my students' lifestyle, I have never met kids with such an enthusiasm for knowledge and such excitement to attend school everyday. The space I created for them in my classroom is very welcoming, and allows them to explore the depths of their knowledge. My students love school so much that they prefer to go to school sick, than to stay home for the day. I have held the highest attendance rate in kindergarten, and possibly in the whole school. The love for each other and for learning is very evident the moment you walk into my classroom.
Because my school is title 1, it is very limited with funds and we have very old materials.
