For most of the school year we have recess indoors thanks to the chilly weather of Chicago. Instead of having our students do mindless indoor activities during indoor recess we want their brains to be stimulated. Many board games deal with cognitive functions such as memory, information retention, problem-solving, and complex situations. These aspects of board games help develop the mind and sharpen memory. Improvement in cognitive functions increases IQ and enhances learning capacity and ability. Playing board games helps children with social & communication skills, and also helps improve verbal abilities and attention skills by making a child concentrate and focus for longer periods of time.
