We spend the majority of our day on our classroom rug. Whether we are taking part in our daily morning meeting, or a math mini-lesson students are constantly transitioning on and off of the rug. Our current classroom rug has been frayed and falling apart all year. Not only is it an eyesore, but it also can be a distraction, and a safety hazard-sometimes the legs or chairs/desk or even students' feet can become caught in the frayed threads of the rug.
My students deserve a comfortable, intact living space in their classroom. Since the rug is the cornerstone of our classroom, it should be something the students look forward to and are proud of.
