Please join me in journey towards a flexible classroom. The Flex-Space Comfy Floor seats will be the first step in creating a responsive classroom design that helps to develop a sense of community and pride for my young students. Through the redesign of my classroom, I hope to create a student-centered and collaborative working space. Over half of my students are English language learners and because of this, learning math can sometimes be difficult. When these students sit through a large group math lesson, they are missing out on the valuable problem solving and social learning experiences that come with small group instruction and exploration.
Through the use of floor seating and white boards, my students will gain greater access to math concepts regardless of language ability.
My students will use white boards to model work for their peers and to assist in the problem solving process. They will create models to solve addition equations, subtraction equations, word problems and more! Student collaboration will foster leadership skills, relationship skills and math abilities!I can't wait to see how my students grow!
