I teach to an urban population of students. A lot of them are first and second generation immigrants from Africa. They are wonderful kids who appreciate the extra help and support that my school is able to provide. Many of them do not have enough money to have a computer at home but they really enjoy learning on computers and they have shown improvements in their math and reading skills just by using technology. Since I teach special education, I work with many students who require material to be retaught and/ or taught in different ways than is presented in the general education classroom. I have found many different apps that can be specifically tailored to the student's needs and can supplement the learning that is happening in the classroom.
