We are creating a safe, SEL-inspired room here at John Lewis Invictus Academy. Now, what does that all mean? In short, we will be crafting a space conducive to our students socio-emotional needs and providing a safe space for them to process difficult emotions and feelings. Our Room to Breathe will allow us the opportunity to serve our students who need a chance to reset and cool down during heightened situations or when displaying challenging behaviors. Our hope is that this room will be home to many safe conversations and learning opportunities for our students.
Through this safe space, we will continue to model and teach our scholars how to handle complex and challenging emotions, while allowing them a chance to reset, reflect, and restore relationships and mindsets.
We are requesting these items to help make this room feel like a "home" away from home. Our goal is to make this room as comfortable as possible, to allow for safety as uncomfortable conversations and emotions to take place.
