This year will be my 8th year of teaching mathematics, and my second year at this school. My goals this year are to create an environment that fosters social-emotional growth, community building, and explores organization and life skills and discovery-based mathematics.
My students come from many diverse backgrounds and have very unique lives that impact their views on school and mathematics. Many of my students are considered high-risk students, are English Language Learners and/or have special needs. Some love the challenge that comes with STEM and math, while others find a lot of anxiety in this topic.
Regardless of their view on math and their backgrounds coming into the year, my students are kind, determined students who will spend this year becoming a tight-knit community of learners and leaders, and grow academically, emotionally, and socially together.
