Flexible seating allows students to easily pair up, work in small groups, or discuss as a whole class. I'd like to implement partial flexible seating in sections of my classroom for the upcoming school year. Comfortable students are calm, focused, and productive. Allowing them to have positions throughout the classroom with seat choices, for example, Reading in the classrooml library using scoop chairs, buddy work and math workshops using carpet circles, Guided Reading at the teacher table with the use of wobble stools, and Whole Group discussions or read alouds with the use of soft seats on the carpet. With flexible seating, we can give the students a variety of options in the classroom, giving them autonomy and comfort to stay focused and engaged. This leads to many links such as higher motivation and academic performance, overall improved behavior, and increased collaboration among other students. In the past, my students have shown interest when given different seating positions, so this opportunity will only help enrich learning with the flexible seating items in this project.
