My students are from refugee camps in poor, war torn countries. Currently I have four different languages spoken while we all try to communicate to one another. With the use of white boards the students can draw a picture of what they are saying if they can't communicate it. Being in an urban district with many different cultures, beliefs and backgrounds is difficult for my students. They do not have much but it is clear to me that they have the desire to learn.
