Each quarter I try and inspire my students with a variety of literature. This novel really helped me reach students in the past. I hope that through Donor's Choose I can reach even more. Students connect to the struggles of the narrator and they make connections with the struggles in their own live, but also look to the success Jeannette Walls has had and focus on ways they will be able to reach their dreams. In our unit we will be reading the novel, The Glass Castle, and students will be connecting to their own lives. Writing will be supporting the various literature elements from the novel. Students will connect some social and emotional elements to their own lives in their own writing.
