My students come from diverse backgrounds in an underprivileged area, our school outside of Washington DC. Although some of our students have computers at home, not all of them have access to them. Many of them have parents that work more than one job to make ends meet. They don't have the luxury of having a computer at home or Internet access. Households in other communities have complete access to technology and wouldn't consider not having a computer with Internet access. That just isn't a choice in many of our students homes. They depend on the school to teach their children everything, including how to responsibly be on the Internet. Our students come to school excited to learn and love coming to my technology class. They get to learn so much about the world and experience programs online that can help them succeed in other subjects.
