The smartboard is an essential tool that we use in our classroom on a daily basis. Having a Doc Camera would make learning much more engaging for each student in the classroom. Rather than standing in front of the room and holding a worksheet up for the class to see, a Doc Camera will allow me to project the tangible worksheet from my desk onto the smartboard. The students would then be able to follow along at their desk, while I model what to do.
Being a classroom containing both general and special education students, visual and hands-on learning is imperative. A doc camera is a great tool to use to make this style of learning come alive in my classroom.
While teaching, modeling how to solve the work is a necessity. Having the work projected onto the board, I will be able to zoom in on specific sentences in a passage or math problems to focus on. For example, when analyzing a passage for text support, I can properly model how to highlight key words. Again, making it easier for every student to follow along.
