My middle school students are amazingly resilient considering that they live in a high poverty, rural, gang-ridden area and that some of them are performing academically at third through fifth grade levels. Many are traversing the frightening bridge between maintaining their native language and learning English. I want to see all of them succeed. They want to get a good job in the future and have a chance to attend college. These students are craving excellent materials to support their educational and personal goals.
