My students live in a school district where budgets are very tight. This means that their access to technology and the most basic of educational materials is often very limited. Working at a Title 1 elementary/middle school, I find many times that the cost of materials comes out of my own pocket.
Rarely are complaints heard about having to share materials with multiple classmates and rarely do they recognize that their school is one that is definitely lacking in technology that can keep them in academic competition with classrooms around the country. They are amazing young kids who deserve more, and I want to give them more.
