Students will use the requested tablets mainly for differentiated reading groups during their ESE service time. I could also use the tablets as an incentive or when the students are done with an assignment, they can log onto an app that builds phonics skills and math fact fluency at their level. The cases will protect the tablets to help the life of the tablets. My students that need differentiated instruction to extend their learning will be able to use the tablets for resources that will deepen their content knowledge.
This project will make a difference in my classroom because we have so many struggling learners with a variety of educational backgrounds, interests and learning styles. I believe that this opportunity will enrich learning in my classroom and spark student engagement. Students will be engaged and excited about learning. The school I teach at has a subscription to MyOn which is a site that has thousands of books accessible in one click. It has been researched that if student interests are included in their education then they are more likely to relate to the content and retain what they have learned. With the tablets, students would be able to use new technology skills to research books on their level that they are interested in and build reading skills. I would also be able to monitor how they perform on comprehension checks on the books they read independently. Our district has access to online resources however, there are so many apps I can use for engaging differentiate instruction. The possibilities are endless!
