My students are from diverse backgrounds that reflect our Hawaiian heritage and the history of the sugar plantations formerly in East Hawaii, and much more. Family ties are close in this multicultural community, and Hilo High has a robust legacy of school spirit. My room is a Safe Space for all students, who often enjoy relaxing in this quiet space on breaks during the school day. The foundation of our classroom atmosphere is built on respect and kindness toward each other.
